27-01-2010· Based on your ohm reading the heating element is okay Be sure to check the voltage supply to your dryer at the terminal block where the power cord attaches before continuing to diagnose the failure The dryer must have 220-240 volts when checking across the two outside terminals of the terminal block or it will not heat...
If you're using an ohmeter with a swinging needle, then it should swing all the way over to the peg when you touch both leads of the element when it's out and unhooked from the dryer That said, since there are so many different components within dryers, it could be something else entirely -- Chris Bryant Posted By: 23hotrodr on 07/07/11 02:38pm I rechecked the resistance reading across the 2 ....

That said, since there are so many different components within dryers, it could be something else entirely If you do have 220 V AC at your dryer then read on for how to troubleshoot your dryer If the heating element is okay, most dryers have an operating thermostat, a high limit safety thermostat and a thermal cutoff fuse If the element is open (measures infinite resistance) or short ....
If your tumble dryer is no longer heating up it could very likely be due to a faulty element In this video Josh explains how to use a multimeter to test if your dryer element has a fault A multimeter is a versatile tool that can be used to measure electrical resistance within a circuit, just as you would use a ruler to measure distance...
Dryer Heating Element Resistance Remember that the smaller wires in a dryer carry the 120v and the large wires carry 240vhere is no voltage on these two terminals with wires removedt is ok to test with ohm metereat elements-test heater element with an ohm meterou will read continuity across a good element 8-12 ohms is an average element...

In order to find the resistance of the heater element from the above described section, we must algebraically modify the formula to read (r = v/a) Since we know that the hot water electrical circuit feeds 220 VAC to the 16 ampere heating element the resistance of that element is equal to 1375 ohms We can round that number up to 14 ohms...
